Krispy Kreme in New Zealand

Krispy Kreme is now in New Zealand.

The story of Krispy Kreme began in the 1930s where a young man, Vernon Rudolph won in a poker game with a French Chef in New Orleans. He won the secret yeast-raised doughnut, and destined to be the “King of Krispy Kreme.”

Krispy Kreme has been popular in America for several decades and now opened in New Zealand. The Grand Opening Party was held on February 28, 2018, in Manukau, Auckland.  2 months ago, we were so excited for the opening of Krispy Kreme and we’re glad it happened! On the grand opening, Krispy Kreme had given free original glazed doughnuts to people who registered. They also had planned an entire day of fun, entertainment and giveaway.

When we got there on April 21, 2018, we were so surprised at how huge the store is, and Oh my Gahd! There was a long queue of people who wanted to buy doughnuts. We’ve been told that there has never been a day when the queue is shorter. Unbelievably, some customers came from different parts of New Zealand. Parking is a bit difficult too so we had to go around the car park twice before we got a good spot.

My husband and K3 went inside to get doughnuts. When they got inside, there’s a huge bunch of people, but they were glad there was an Express Lane for those customers who wanted to buy a dozen; classic or assorted. If you want to choose your own doughnuts, you have to line up to the other lane to select your choice. They bought a dozen doughnuts and got Krispy Kreme hats too. We chose the assorted doughnuts than the classic one. We had Traditional Cinnamon, Choc Iced Custard, Kookies n Kreme, Strawberry Iced, Caramel Iced, Dulce De Leche, Choc Iced, Strawberry Jam, Tiramisu, Choc Iced Sprinkles, Apple Custard Crumble and Vanilla Slice.

My personal favourite is Dulce de Leche. Their doughnuts are not so sweet unlike Dunkin Donuts, no offence intended. The Kookies N Kreme is very nice too! The 2 younger kids love it but my eldest seemed to get used to Dunkin Donut! We can’t blame her, can we?

Krispy Kreme NZ is located in 3 Ronwood Avenue Manukau, Auckland 2104 (opposite of Westfield Manukau).
Shop opens: 6am – 11pm
